Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Yerevan

The Tour begins when your plane lands at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. Our representative will be there to greet you and take you to Ani Plaza Hotel to rest for the night. (overnight in Yerevan)

Day 2: Yerevan - Etchmiadzin - Yerevan

We will be spending this day visiting the highlights of the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. We will begin the day by touring the Victory Park and the Mother Armenia statue. From there, we can have an exclusive view of central Yerevan. Next, we will walk to the Cascade Monument. By going to the top of the Cascade, a view of Mount Ararat opens up. From up high, we can see the houses lining up at the same level and several artistic sculptures come into view. By descending down the stairways, we will then visit the Opera House and Ballet theater building. From there, we will walk to the Republic Square, the center of Yerevan, where several main government buildings are located. Then, we will walk through the Abovyan Avenue while our guide recounts the ancient history of Yerevan.
On this day, we will also be visiting the Genocide Memorial Complex. An eternal flame burns at the center of it. Then, we will head to the ancient city of Etchmiadzin where the first Armenian Cathedral was built. Etchmiadzin Cathedral is inscribed on the UNESCO list. After having lunch, we will visit the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral which is also a UNESCO site. We will then head back to Ani Plaza Hotel to spend the night in Yerevan. (overnight in Yerevan)

Day 3: Yerevan – Garni - Yerevan

On the third day, we will head to Kotayk province to visit the Medieval Geghard Monastery. This UNESCO site is a complex of rock-cut churches and tombs which are surrounded by high cliffs. Next, we will drive to Garni Village and explore this wonderful eco-village and the Greco-Roman Garni Temple. Before having lunch, we will have the opportunity to see the process of baking Armenian traditional bread called lavash. We will then head back to Ani Plaza Hotel. For the rest of the evening, you will have time on your own to explore Yerevan. You can visit the famous Brandy factory of Yerevan where you can have a taste of Armenian beverage, Cognac. Or, you can visit the large open-air market of Vernissage where you can find a collection of Armenian Art works and souvenirs. Or else, you can explore the Manuscript Museum of Armenia. (overnight in Yerevan)

Day 4: Yerevan – Khor Virap - Karahunj – Goris

On the fourth day of our trip, we will head to Khor Virap to visit one of the most visited sites in Armenia which is the Khor Virap monastery. According to the history of this place, the famous saint Gregory was prisoned here in a pit for 13 years. An amazing view of the legendry Mount Ararat is visible from the top of the hills where this Monastery is placed. Then, after visiting a Local Winery, we will make a stop at the Areni Cave Complex. Interestingly, the oldest leather shoe (belonging to the Copper age) was discovered in this area. We will then visit the Noravank Monastery which is a medieval masterpiece surrounded by mountains and lovely plains. We will head to Karahnuj which is considered as a prehistoric site where about 222 huge stones (basalt slabs) are scattered. This mysterious structure holds a Stonehenge in the center of it. We will head to Goris to spend the night in MonteBello Hotel. (overnight in Goris)

Day 5: Goris – Tatev – Jermuk

On the fifth day, we will head to Khndzoresk to explore this village. This village is famous for its cage and cliff dwellings which we can observe from a suspension bridge. Next, we will make our way to Tatev. While there, we will get on the famous aerial tramway known as the wing of Tatev which is the longest reversible cableway in the world. After our flight over the beautiful sceneries of the river and the nature, we will arrive at Tatev Monastery Complex. We will drive to Jermuk to make a stop and enjoy the refreshing Jermuk Waterfall at the heart of the forest. We will spend the night in Grand Resort Hotel in Jermuk. (overnight in Jermuk)

Day 6: Jermuk – Selim - Nordusss – Delijan

On this day, we will continue our trip along the ancient trade route known as the Silk Road. Following this road, we will first visit the Orbelian Caravanserai which is a unique example of resting place for the ancient travelers along this road. Next, we will be visiting the Noratus cemetery. Hundreds of burial stones are carved in elaborate patterns in this cemetery. We will head to Sevan Lake and then by climbing a few stairs, we will visit Sevanavank Monastery at top of a hill. We will drive to Delijan to spend the night in Tufenkin Old Dilijan Complex in Delijan. (overnight in Delijan)

Day 7: Delijan – Lori - Gymur

On the seventh day, we will head to Hagharstin region which is located within Delijan. We will visit one of the masterpieces of medieval architecture known as Haghartsin Monastery. Next, we will make our way to Lori region to visit the Byzantine Sanahin Monastry which is a UNESCO site. Then, we will drive to Gymur to spend the night in Villa Kars Hotel. (overnight in Gymur)

Day 8: Gymur – Oshakan - Amberd - Yerevan

On our last day of exploring the highlights of Armenia, we will head to Amberd to visit the Amberd Fortress. After visiting this gem of the middle ages, we will visit the Alphabet Monument. This unique monument was designed in the honor of the founder of Armenia’s Alphabet. Next, we will head back to Yerevan. For the rest of the day, you are free to explore Yerevan. We will spend our last night in Ani Plaza Hotel in Yerevan.(overnight in Yerevan)

Day 9: Departure

Now, you have seen the highlights of Armenia. Depending on the time of your International flight whether at midnight or early in the morning, we will take you to Zvartnots International Airport.
